One seeking to become a noble human must embrace the  mind of heaven and earth as their own mindset and master the principle of yin and yang’s cycle of the four seasons to participate in heaven and earth’s begetting and nurturing of all that is. Therefore, carefully discern the ways of the world, then earnestly unite your every word and every silence with dao so that you achieve this virtue.

대인을 배우는 자는 천지의 마음을 나의 심법으로 삼고 음양이 사시(四時)로 순환하는 이치를 체득하여 천지의 화육(化育)에 나아가나니 그런고로 천하의 이치를 잘 살펴서 일어일묵(一語一黙)이 정중하게 도에 합한 연후에 덕이 이루어지는 것이니라.

If you allow yourself to become possessed by selfish desires and so speak and behave merely as you please—acting flippantly impatiently, or crudely — you shall never achieve such a great virtue.

만일 사람이 사사로운 욕심에 사로잡혀 자기 좋은 대로 언동하고 가볍고 조급하며 천박하게 처세하면 큰 덕을 이루지 못하느니라.
