Cultivate and Purify Yourself with One Mind, a Passionate Mind

일심혈심으로 수련하라

One night shortly after nine o’clock,

하루는 태모님께서 이경(二更) 초에

Taemonim and several disciples sat facing southeast.

성도 대여섯 명과 함께 손방(巽方)을 향하여 좌정하신 뒤에

She blew Her breath once in that direction.

입으로 바람을 한 번 부시니

Suddenly, in the southeast appeared a star as large as a gourd and as bright as the moon.

갑자기 손방에 큰 바가지만 한 별이 나타나거늘 그 밝은 빛이 달과 같더라.

She drew smoke from Her tobacco pipe and blew toward the star,

이때 태모님께서 그 별을 향하여 담배 연기를 뿜으시니

and it was immediately concealed by dark clouds.

검은 구름이 일어나 별을 가리고

Taemonim blew a breath again, without drawing from Her pipe,

다시 입으로 바람을 부시니

and the clouds withdrew, unveiling the star once more.

구름이 흩어져 별이 나타나거늘

She repeated this process three times.

이와 같이 세 번을 행하시니라.

Taemonim then announced to the disciples,

이어 말씀하시기를

“This is known as the power and mastery of immortal-buddhas.”

“이것을 일러 선불권술(仙佛權術)이라 하느니라.” 하시고

She continued, “Cultivate and purify yourself with one mind, a passionate mind,

일심혈심(一心血心)으로 수련하라.

for when the time comes, you will be able to control the wind and clouds, rain and dew, frost and

snow as you wish.

“쓸 때가 되면 바람과 구름, 비와 이슬, 서리와 눈을 뜻대로 쓰게 되리니

Such attainment lies within the reach of all.”

누구나 할 수 있느니라.” 하시니라.
