Keep Faith with a Right Mind and in the Right Way

정심정도로 믿어라

Jeung-san one day warned Bok-nam,

증산께서 하루는 복남에게 말씀하시기를

“If you will die after believing half-heartedly, why believe at all?

“어설피 믿다 뒈지려거든 아예 믿지를 말아라.

Once one makes a vow to heaven and earth,

천지에 서약을 했으면

one must keep faith with a right mind and in the right way,

정심정도(正心正道)로 믿어 나가야지

for those who claim faith yet are vainglorious and covetous

믿는다고 말만 하고 허영 떨고 훔쳐 먹고 그러면

suffer all the more severe a punishment by heaven and earth.”

천지에서 벌을 더 준다.” 하시고

Jeung-san also said,

이어 말씀하시기를

“People sin in this life in the belief that nothing will come of sins committed in secret,

“이 세상을 살면서는 죄를 지어도 남모르게만 하면 그만인 줄 알아도

but their sins are completely revealed after they enter the spirit realm.

죄진 사람은 천상에 가면 모든 게 다 드러난다.

Such sinners expect peace in death—‘When I die, I die’—

죽으면 편할 줄 알고 ‘죽어, 죽어.’

but discover that the spirit realm holds for them nothing but terror.

하지만 천상에 가면 모든 것이 다 무섭다.

Sins committed by those who claim faith cannot be forgiven.”

믿으면서 지은 죄는 사하지도 못하느니라.” 하시니라.
