1 “The dao of Immortalism, the dao of Buddhism, the dao of Confucianism, and the dao of Christianity are the basis of many of the world’s cultures.

선도와 불도와 유도와 서도는 세계 각 족속의 문화의 근원이 되었나니

2 I now appoint Choe Su-un as the head of the dao of Immortalism,

이제 최수운은 선도의 종장(宗長)이 되고

3 Jin-muk as the head of the dao of Buddhism,

진묵은 불도의 종장이 되고

4 Zhu Xi as the head of the dao of Confucianism,

주회암은 유도의 종장이 되고

5 and Matteo Ricci as the head of the dao of Christianity.

이마두는 서도의 종장이 되어 각기 그 진액을 거두고

6 “These new heads will gather together the essence of each tradition and lead the preeminent spirits of all teachings and the preeminent spirits of all civilizations in extracting the essence of the many different cultures and uniting them into one.

모든 도통신(道統神)과 문명신(文明神)을 거느려 각 족속들 사이에 나타난 여러 갈래 문화의 정수(精髓)를 뽑아 모아 통일케 하느니라.

7 “I now unite the three daos Buddhism, whose essence is form-substance; Immortalism, whose essence is creation-transformation; Confucianism, whose essence is propriety.

이제 불지형체(佛之形體) 선지조화(仙之造化) 유지범절(儒之凡節)의 삼도(三道)를 통일하느니라.

8 My dao is akin to Buddhism, but is not Buddhism; my dao is akin to Immortalism, but is not Immortalism; my dao is akin to Confucianism, but is not Confucianism.

나의 도(道)는 사불비불(似佛非佛)이요, 사선비선(似仙非仙)이요, 사유비유(似儒非儒)니라.

9 I now extract the marrow of Buddhism, Immortalism, and Confucianism and infuse this marrow within Immortalism.”

내가 유불선 기운을 쏙 뽑아서 선(仙)에 붙여 놓았느니라.
