1 “In the Later Heaven, all nations will live in harmony and peace, and their people will be free of bitterness, grief, sanggeuk, violence, greed, lust, anger, and all other afflictions that plague the mind. People’s voices and smiling faces will overflow with warmth and vitality.

후천에는 만국이 화평하여 백성들이 모두 원통과 한(恨)과 상극과 사나움과 탐심과 음탕과 노여움과 번뇌가 그치므로 말소리와 웃는 얼굴에 화기(和氣)가 무르녹고

2 All movements and stillness, words and silence, will harmonize with dao and virtue. All will enjoy ageless longevity.

동정어묵(動靜語黙)이 도덕에 합하며, 사시장춘(四時長春)에 자화자청(自和自晴)하고, 욕대관왕(浴帶冠旺)에 인생이 불로장생하고

3 All inequality of wealth will be eliminated, and there will appear in chests of drawers as much sumptuous food and fine clothing as desired.

빈부의 차별이 철폐되며, 맛있는 음식과 좋은 옷이 바라는 대로 빼닫이 칸에 나타나며

4 People will soar high across the sky in cloud carriages as they travel to faraway lands and rugged frontiers, instantly arriving at any destination they desire.

운거(雲車)를 타고 공중을 날아 먼 데와 험한 데를 다니고 땅을 주름잡고 다니며 가고 싶은 곳을 경각에 왕래하리라.

5 The heavens will be low enough for people to ascend and descend freely. Wisdom will be opened to all so that everyone may attain perfect awareness of their past, present, and future and of all matters in every reach of the world.

하늘이 나직하여 오르내림을 뜻대로 하고, 지혜가 열려 과거 현재 미래와 시방세계(十方世界)의 모든 일 에 통달하며

6 The three disasters of flood, fire, and windstorm will disappear, and auspicious qi will abound, transforming the world into a paradise of immortality with climate pure and harmonious, and landscapes radiant and sublime.”

수화풍(水火風) 삼재(三災)가 없어지고 상서가 무르녹아 청화명려(淸和明麗)한 낙원의 선세계(仙世界)가 되리라.

The World in Which Spirits Serve People

신명이 수종 드는 세계

7“In the Early Heaven, humans have served spirits; but in the coming times, spirits will serve humans.

선천에는 사람이 신명을 받들어 섬겼으나 앞으로는 신명이 사람을 받드느니라.

8 The Later Heaven will be the age of spirits that listen and answer,

후천은 언청계용신(言聽計用神)의 때니

9 and spirits will serve everyone’s every desire.”

모든 일은 자유 욕구에 응하여 신명이 수종 드느니라.
