I Am Visiting My Host
이제 주인을 심방함이라

On April 13, 1902 (DG 32), Sangjenim arrived at Gim Hyeong-ryeol’s house in Jebichanggol Ravine of Haun-dong Village, Jeonju County.

상제님께서 임인년 4월 13일에 전주 우림면 하운동(全州 雨林面 夏雲洞) 제비창골 김형렬의 집에 이르시니라.

After they related to one another their experiences over the years since they had last met, Sangjenim revealed to Hyeong-ryeol,

이때 오랫동안 만나지 못했던 심회를 푸시고 형렬에게 일러 말씀하시기를

“Now that the end of the Early Heaven has arrived, the world will undergo gaebyeok and the Great Destiny of Mugeuk will unfold.

“이제 말세의 개벽 세상을 당하여 앞으로 무극대운(無極大運)이 열리나니

Therefore, be always vigilant in all matters to avoid engendering vengeful qi within others, distance yourself from sin,

모든 일에 조심하여 남에게 척(隻)을 짓지 말고 죄를 멀리하여

and cultivate and purify yourself with dao with a pure and right mind—

순결한 마음으로 정심 수도하여

and then participate in the grand court that conducts the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth.

천지공정(天地公庭)에 참여하라.

I will redirect heaven and earth’s destiny with my power of creation-transformation and bring forth the Paradise of Immortality of ageless longevity, delivering all beings from the sea of agony.”

나는 조화로써 천지운로를 개조(改造)하여 불로장생의 선경(仙境)을 열고 고해에 빠진 중생을 널리 건지려 하노라.” 하시고

Sangjenim continued, 

또 말씀하시기를 

“I first descended into this world at the canopy tower in the Nation of Great Law in the West and from there traveled to survey the world.

“나는 본래 서양 대법국(大法國) 천개탑(天蓋塔)에 내려와 천하를 두루 살피고

eventually came to the Eastern land, Joseon, and resided at the Maitreya Shrine of Geumsansa Temple for thirty years,

동양 조선국 금산사 미륵전에 임하여 30년 동안 머물다가

until I incarnated into the Gahng family in Gaengmang-ri Village, Gobu County. I am now visiting my host.

고부 객망리 강씨 문중에 내려왔나니, 이제 주인을 심방함이니라.” 하시고

Without substance, there can be no function.

“무체(無體)면 무용(無用)이라.

Since west and metal are one and the same, I have chosen a person with the surname Gim to serve as my host.”

서(西)는 금(金)인 고로 김(金)씨에게 주인을 정하였노라.” 하시니라.

From that time forth, Sangjenim resided at Hyeong-ryeol’s house.

이로부터 형렬의 집에 머무르시면서

Whenever Sangjenim was conducting the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth,

천지공사를 행하실 때

he opened Hyeong-ryeol’s spiritual eye,

형렬에게 신안(神眼)을 열어 주시어

allowing Hyeong-ryeol to witness the spirits as they gathered and dispersed and received Sangjenim’s imperial commands.

신명(神明)이 모이고 흩어지는 것과 어명(御命)을 받드는 모습을 참관케 하시니라.
