The Taeeulju Mantra Is Medicine for the Time of Gaebyeok

“Sin-nong saved many lives by tasting a hundred herbs to devise medicine,

신농씨가 백초(百草)를 맛보아 약을 만들어 구제창생(救濟蒼生)에 공헌하였거늘

 but we will save countless lives throughout the world by chanting the Taeeulju Mantra.

우리는 입으로 글을 읽어서 천하창생을 구제하느니라.

“Disease will not trespass within you, 

병이 범치 못하느니라.

for the Taeeulju Mantra is the mantra for storing water qi.

태을주(太乙呪)는 수기 저장 주문이니 

I have gathered the qi of all medicine into the Taeeulju Mantra. 

내가 이 세상 모든 약기운을 태을주에 붙여 놓았느니라.

The Taeeulju Mantra is medicine.”

약은 곧 태을주니라.

★Who is Sin-nong?

신농 (神農). 3218–3078 BCE. (Sin, “spirit”; nong, “farming.”) Often romanized from Chinese as Shen Nong. In China, Sin-nong and the Yellow Emperor are revered as the progenitors of the Han Chinese, but Sin-nong was in fact a lord in ancient Korea’s Baedal nation (3897-2333BCE). He was called Sin-nong because of his contribution to the development of agriculture. He is also renowned as the father of Eastern medicine.

신농神農.   3218-3078 BCE. (신은 “신”, 농은 “농사”를 의미) 중국식 표기는 주로 Shen Nong이 사용된다. 신농은 최근에는 중국에서 황제와 더불어 중국민족의 시조로 받들어지고 있으나, 사실은 한민족 배달국(3897-2333 BCE) 시대의 인물이다. 농업의 시조로 추존되어 신농으로 불리며, 동양 의학의 아버지로도 알려져 있다.
